Write for The Birds Blitz
The Birds Blitz, a Philadelphia Eagles blog is looking to add talented writers. Since I launched this website, I’ve done all of the writing myself and have been hesitant to add additional writers. But it’s time to expand and, more importantly, give writers who are interested in writing about the Eagles the opportunity to share their voices and showcase their talents.
I’ve been reluctant to add writers for a number of reasons. For starters, we aren’t ready to pay writers yet. And while I would love to pay writers at least a regular stipend, we just aren’t there yet. My hope is that we’ll be there in the near future as the site grows. For now, these are volunteer opportunities, and I recognize that won’t be for everyone. I want to be upfront about that.
What I can offer aspiring writers is experience. And I mean that in two ways. The first is that I will work with you to figure out what you like writing about and provide you with the experience of writing about those topics. The second is that I have more than a decade of experience in the publishing industry. I’m a good writer and an even better editor. I’ll provide you with regular feedback to help you become a better writer while also providing the platform for you to grow your portfolio.
I get that unpaid writing gigs, especially in 2021, aren’t for everyone. And it’s more than fine if you aren’t interested. But we’re building something great here, and I’m excited about our future prospects. If you’re interested, please fill out the form below. You’ll notice that a bunch of the fields are optional, but include as much information as you can. Writing samples, even if they aren’t related to sports, are incredibly helpful.

Medium Writers
If you write on Medium or would like to write on Medium, we publish some of our content there, too. For details, please refer to this post about writing for The Birds Blitz on Medium. Note that we are big believers in the Medium Partner Program, and so we prioritize active Medium members. It is difficult to make a living as a writer, and it can be very rewarding to work full-time at something else and make money as a writer when you are able. Medium has become a place that rewards those writers who write stories worth reading, and so we want to do the same.
But that doesn’t mean that we don’t accept work from writers who aren’t members. Anyone with a Medium account can submit and will be considered.
