Buccaneers – Eagles Week 6 Inactives

The Philadelphia Eagles host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Lincoln Financial Field on Thursday Night Football in Week 6. We learned earlier in the week that Tom Brady and the Bucs would be without a number of key contributors on both sides of the ball, while we learned a few hours before game time that Eagles tight end Dallas Goedert would not be activated from the COVID-19 list.

Both teams just released their official lists of inactive players.

Eagles Week 6 Inactives

  • As expected, Eagles tackle Lane Johnson will miss his third straight game. Johnson is dealing with a personal matter that has kept him away from the team, though he was at the team’s complex at one point last week before returning home. The team hopes Johnson will return at some point this season, but there is no timetable for his status.
  • Tight end Dallas Goedert tested positive for COVID-19 earlier in the week. He is vaccinated but needed to test negative twice prior to Thursday night’s matchup. That seemed unlikely, and he was not activated prior to Thursday’s 4 pm ET deadline.
  • Guard Sua Opeta is also on the Reserve/COVID-19 list and was not activated Thursday.
  • Brandon Graham is done for the season with a ruptured Achilles. Josh Sweat, Ryan Kerrian, and Derek Barnett will likely see additional snaps with Graham out, and DE/DT Milton Williams is likely to kick out to defensive end more, especially when the Eagles play their “base” defense.
  • Gardner Minshew is the third quarterback and is likely to be inactive most weeks, barring injury.
  • With Opeta and Goedert out, the Eagles elevated T Le’Raven Clark and TE Noah Togiai from the practice squad to the active roster as COVID-19 replacements.
  • Marlon Tuipulotu is not injured but is likely inactive for gameplan reasons against a team that is expected to pass early and often.
  • Mac McCain and Jack Anderson remain inactive.

Buccaneers Week 6 Inactives

  • We knew coming into Thursday night that the Buccaneers would be without tight end Rob Gronkowski, linebacker Lavonte David, and safety Antoine Winfield Jr. All three are significant losses, though Tampa Bay does have some depth, especially at the tight end position.
  • Nick Leverett is a reserve lineman who went undrafted in 2020 and has not appeared in a game this season.
  • Kyle Trask is the third-string quarterback behind Tom Brady and Blaine Gabbert.
  • Jaelon Darden appeared in one game this season and has no catches on one target.
  • Linebacker/Edge Jason Pierre-Paul was listed as questionable but is active after playing in Sunday’s win over the Dolphins.
