Spoilers: this is going to be a very short article this week. In multiple ways, I anticipate both conference championships won’t be as good as the games in the divisional round. Granted, last’s performances were simply absurd in some circumstances. Fortunately, I imagine that at least one game this week will be easier to predict (from the guy who went 4-4 last week).
Safe Pick
Bengals vs. Chiefs: Chiefs
To the chagrin to the rest of the league, the Chiefs have exorcized the demons that haunted them in October and November. The way KC has been playing, Burrow won’t get three interceptions off of Mahomes like the former’s defense got from Tannehill. Consequentially, Burrow will have to have his best game of the postseason by a wide margin. Can he do it? Based off of my understanding from social media, most non-Chiefs fans want to see Burrow go to the Super Bowl, but Kansas City has returned to the brick wall that they were in years past. Get Burrow and offensive line, and he might be ready next year. For now, the Chiefs have regained my trust, as well as my wager.
Other Pick
Rams vs. 49ers: 49ers
I know a lot of people– myself included– want Stafford to win a Super Bowl, but there are some things that I cannot ignore. Two, to be specific: Kyle Shanahan has never lost to Sean McVay and the 49ers have put two of the best offenses in the NFL (Green Bay and Dallas) through the wringer. I’m taking the 49ers, but I’m betting the under. Both offenses are going to struggle in a low-scoring game. I’m quite confident in this assessment.
