The Philadelphia Eagles have signed offensive lineman Landon Dickerson, their second-round pick from the 2021 NFL Draft. The Eagles signed eight of their other nine draft picks in early June. They agreed to terms with DeVonta Smith, Milton Williams, Zech McPhearson, and Kenneth Gainwell on June 3, Marlon Tuipulotu, Tarron Jackson, and Patrick Johnson on June 4, and JaCoby Stevens on June 7.
Dickerson, however, remained unsigned until today, just a day before training camp begins.
The Eagles posted this on their official website on Monday:
The No. 37 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, Landon Dickerson won the prestigious Rimington Trophy and was voted a unanimous first-team All-American in 2020. He helped lead the Crimson Tide to a National Championship by anchoring an offensive line that provided protection for the top-ranked scoring offense (48.5 points per game) among Power 5 conferences. In 2019, he showcased his versatility and was named a second-team All-SEC guard by the media and a second-team All-SEC center by the coaches. Dickerson started his college career at Florida State before transferring to Alabama.
Rookie holdouts used to be fairly commonplace heading into training camp before the most recent CBA. Now, the contracts are largely predetermined and any negotiating between the teams and agents is about certain language that is included in those deals. With Dickerson, it’s likely that his recent surgery to repair a torn ACL was part of the discussion.
Here is the complete list of Eagles draft picks from the 2021 NFL Draft:
- 1 (10) – DeVonta Smith, WR, Alabama
- 2 (37) – Landon Dickerson, C/G, Alabama
- 3 (73) – Milton Williams, DT, Louisiana Tech
