Eagles reportedly finalize their coaching staff

New Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni was officially hired on January 24, 2021, and he has been working to fill out his coaching staff over the last two weeks. Some of his most important hires, namely offensive coordinator Shane Steichen and defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon, were made almost immediately.

But others took some time. Sirianni had names in mind for many of the positions on his staff, and that’s why someone like Kevin Patullo was among the first hires as the new passing game coordinator, reportedly. But he spent the last couple of weeks interviewing multiple candidates for positions on his coaching staff.

It appears that offensive line coach Jeff Stoutland and wide receivers coach Aaron Moorehead will be the only two significant holdovers from Doug Pederson’s staff. It’s possible that we see some lower-level assistants like Connor Barwin stick around, too, but those two names appear to be the only position coaches keeping their jobs.

On Monday, Matt Jones of Kentucky Sports Radio reported that Kentucky running backs coach and special teams coordinator Jemal Singleton was leaving to become the Eagles’ running backs coach and assistant head coach. Running backs coach was the last vacant spot on Nick Sirianni’s staff.

Singleton had only signed with Kentucky last month, but it appears Sirianni and the Eagles were able to pry him away. As mentioned above, Singleton played and coached at Air Force for several seasons, had stops in the college ranks at Oklahoma State and Arkansas, and coached in the NFL for the Colts, Raiders, and Bengals. He and Sirianni did not overlap in Indianapolis, with Singleton leaving after the 2017 season and Sirianni joining in 2018 as part of new head coach Frank Reich’s staff.

Based on what has been reported, this is what Nick Sirianni’s coaching staff looks like. Note that the Eagles have not officially confirmed most of these hires, though Sirianni did discuss Shane Steichen, Jonathan Gannon, and Brian Johnson during his introductory press conference.
