The Washington Football Team and Philadelphia Eagles are set for a rarely-seen Tuesday night matchup after the NFL inexplicably postponed a game originally scheduled for Sunday. Despite writing in clear terms over the summer that no games would be delayed for competitive reasons if one team suffers a COVID outbreak, the NFL did just that in postponing this game due to Washington’s significant outbreak. As we wrote at the time, the decision is absolute horseshit.
Washington did get several players back from the reserve/COVID-19 list—including the unvaccinated that was the first of the Football Team’s players to test positive—but will still be without several key contributors, including starting quarterback Taylor Heinicke and backup quarterback Kyle Allen. The recently-acquired Garret Gilbert will start for Washington because of his familiarity with head coach Ron Rivera and offensive coordinator Scott Turner’s offense (he spent time with the Panthers while Rivera and Turner were there).
The Eagles, meanwhile, got Quez Watkins back from the reserve/COVID-19 list but lost starting left guard Landon Dickerson and top tackle reserve (and former first-round pick) Andre Dillard over the weekend.
Here are the rest of the Washington Football Team – Eagles Week 15 inactives.
Eagles Week 15 Inactives
- The Eagles will be without Landon Dickerson and Andre Dillard, but both are on the reserve/COVID-19 list and are therefore not included on the inactives list. Both are out and cannot play.
- Running back Jordan Howard missed the last two games with a knee injury but is set to return after the bye week. He figures to split time with Miles Sanders.
- Quarterback Jalen Hurts is active and is expected to start after missing Week 13 against the Jets with a reported high-ankle sprain.
- Brandon Graham, Brandon Brooks, Jack Driscoll, Isaac Seumalo, and Davion Taylor are all on injured reserve. Some expected Brooks to be activated (even if just to practice) after the bye week, but there have been no updates on his status.
ICYMI, we are partnering with FOCO and will have promotions and giveaways coming up soon.
Football Team Week 15 Inactives
- Not listed are all of the reserve/COVID-19 players and running back J.D. McKissic, who was placed on injured reserve on Tuesday.
- Players who remain on the reserve/COVID-19 list and will not play on Tuesday include:
- QB Taylor Heinicke
- QB Kyle Allen
- RG Brandon Scherff: All-Pro in 2020 and arguably their biggest loss after Heinicke
- CB Kendall Fuller: Starting cornerback. Probably their third-most important absence after Heinick and Scherff.
- S Cam Kurl
- C Tyler Larson
- Curtis Samuel is out with a hamstring injury. He was signed by WFT as a free agent this offseason but has played in just five games, catching six of his nine targets for 27 yards and rushing four times for 11 yards.
- Tight end Logan Thomas, edge rusher Chase Young, and quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick are all on injured reserve and will not play.
- Even with Washington dealing with multiple injuries at the position, Antonio Gandy-Golden has appeared in just four games this season and does not have a single target.
- Defensive tackle Tim Settle was activated from the reserve/COVID-19 list earlier in the day on Tuesday but is inactive.
