The Eagles and first-round pick Jalen Reagor have agreed to terms on a rookie contract, according to multiple reports and an announcement from the team on Twitter.

Adam Caplan added on Twitter that it’s a four-year deal with base salaries fully guaranteed. And per Ian Rapoport, the deal is for a four-year, $13.3M contract with a fifth-year option.

Rookie contract negotiations used to be more difficult, with multiple first-round picks often holding out into training camp. Over the last several years, though, there a structured slot system has been used to make the negotiations much easier. It’s now somewhat rare to see a draft pick hold out, though it does happen from time to time due to negotiations over offset language.

This year is obviously much different. Hundreds of draft picks around the league remain unsigned, mostly due to the inability for teams to get players into their facilities for physicals.

For their part, the Eagles have now signed three of their 10 draft picks from the 2020 draft. Reagor, a first-round pick, joins sixth-round picks Quez Watkins and Prince Tega Wanogho. Here is a snapshot courtesy of the NFL Trade Rumors 2020 NFL Draft Picks Signing Tracker:

Jalen Reagor becomes the third Eagles draft pick to sign his rookie contract

In case anyone forgot last season, the Eagles desperately need help at the wide receiver position. They placed an emphasis on the position in the NFL Draft, drafting three wideouts and trading for Marquise Goodwin.

While they will reportedly move him around this season in an attempt to get the ball into his hands, the Eagles surely hope that Jalen Reagor is the long-term replacement to DeSean Jackson.

Now that he has signed his contract, the COVID-19 pandemic is the only thing keeping him from the field. The league and the owners are reportedly meeting today in an attempt to finalize health and safety measures, financial arrangements, and the plan for the preseason.
