The Philadelphia Eagles lost to the Seattle Seahawks on Monday in what was another embarrassing performance. On Tuesday, they made a number of roster moves. Among them were waiving safety Will Parks, promoting safety Grayland Arnold from the practice squad to the active roster, and releasing defensive end Shareef Miller from the practice squad.

To be clear, the Eagles didn’t need to open up a spot on their practice squad. They were actually already creating an additional spot by promoting Arnold. They just simply chose to release Miller.

On Tuesday, took to Instagram to voice some of his frustration about the Philadelphia Eagles, commenting on 4th and Jawn’s post about the Eagles’ release of safety Will Parks. He started with this initial “Smh horrible place to be comment.”

But Miller wasn’t done. He also took the opportunity to reply to someone calling him a bust and to someone else seemingly on his side, saying “I know the real good luck to your bum ass team” and “idgaf I know what’s really going on there I’m happy AF.”

A few side notes here:

  1. Don’t reply directly to athletes on social media with insults or only things to say. That’s lame. The guy is trying to make it in the NFL and was just cut for the third time. You don’t need to call him a bust. He has enough going on right now.
  2. This is a bad move by Miller, and the comments have already been deleted. If there are indeed strange things going on in Philadelphia, he needs to communicate that to his agent, who can relay that to any other NFL teams who may be interested. Replying to fans on social media isn’t the way to handle this.

Shareef Miller was drafted in the fourth round of the 2019 NFL Draft by Howie Roseman and the Eagles. During the 2019 season, he was active for only a single game and played just two snaps, both on special teams. Miller was waived by the Eagles ahead of the 2020 season, claimed by the Carolina Panthers, and then waived by the Panthers a month later. In mid-October, the Eagles signed Miller to their practice squad.

Miller was a free agent for 16 days before the Eagles signed him to their practice squad in October. NFL teams can also sign players to their active rosters from other teams’ practice squads, meaning Miller could have been signed to an active roster at any point over the last six weeks.

Shareef Miller doesn’t turn 24 years old until March, so it’s still possible that an NFL team signs him to a futures contract at the end of the season and invites him to training camp in 2021. But it’s also possible that his NFL career is already over.
